In accordance with mutual interests and for the purpose of establishing long-term, mutually beneficial cooperation in the fields of education, arts and sciences and sports, the following universities:

have agreed to form a strong and sustainable cooperation network - UNET.

The intent of the cooperative network lies in pre-existing amicable relations as well as in the awareness and importance of common history, culture, and shared aspirations to enhance our presence in the global academic community.

The UNET network shall support and foster the development of a knowledge society and mutual understanding, facilitate intercultural exchange and the transfer of know-how and innovation. The following areas and objectives shall be prioritized by the UNET network:


  • To improve the quality of education by fostering international openness and mobility;
  • To build cooperation platforms leading to the design of joint curricula;
  • To continue the harmonization of higher education systems in accordance with the Bologna process;

Science and Research

  • To enhance regional cooperation in the field of research and development (R&D);
  • To develop cooperation between the R&D, higher education and business sectors;
  • To improve communication and information services and networks connecting academic research and higher education institutions from the region to pan-European R&D infrastructures;

Arts and Culture

  • To facilitate intercultural exchange;
  • To create interdisciplinary links between arts and science;
  • To promote the role of the Arts in Education and Society;


  • To improve the sport culture in the academic sphere by increasing the participation of academics and students in sports;
  • To improve international visibility of university sports;
  • To develop management competence and create linkages between universities and sport sector organisations.
